I find it kind of funny that the first three real posts here were about food, but then almost a full week of dance and performance went by. So let's switch it up, and talk about food!
While enjoying both Lelehuna and Mike Keale's performances, my parents and I ate a pretty good meal at Cafe Montmartre within Lake Anne Plaza. I've been to the establishment about three times before, but I never get anything more than a cup of coffee, mostly because I go grab some McDonald's or something before or after any ukulele happening at the place.
First dish I can talk about is some Calamari! (pictured above) The fried squid appetizer was served with a lemon and a slightly watery marinara sauce (or something akin to it). The calamari was lightly breaded and lightly fried, it was neither overcooked or soggy like calamari I've had in the past. Lemon always works well with it. The viscosity didn't matter too much for the sauce, it probably worked in the dish's favor. But it didn't blow me away.
The entree I ordered was the Montmartre burger, a very large (seemed like a quarter-pounder?) beef patty in a soft roll, served with mushrooms, onions, and mayo within the bun, and fries, tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumber on the side. Safe to say I didn't eat the cucumber, but I threw everything else onto the burger. Cooked medium well, the burger was, while not perfectly juicy, certainly not dry, which is always a plus. The fries could've used some Old Bay though, but as a Maryland resident that opinion is to be expected.
The rest of the Mike Keale performance to come!
