Hello!

Welcome to American Katipunero Photography! This is going to be a blog surrounding the photographs I take through my excursions in the Washington, D.C. area, any photos I take of various cultural events I enjoy attending, and my adventures abroad! I'll be posting pictures up while offering my own commentary.

I was going to stick with a tumblr, but I realize that it's not a very serious way of going about blogging, especially if you want to take a pseudo-serious approach, aka not treat your blog like a twitter. I could just post my pictures one by one in the same style, but I feel like I could write a thousand words for every thousand words a picture could tell. For every photo, there's not only a story of the people and objects encapsulated by the framing, but the story of the photographer and the world behind him as he takes it. That story needs to be told.

As for the title, the word "Katipunero" referred to rebels and dissidents in the Spanish-controlled Philippines during the 19th century. I guess the full title reflects my Filipino ethnicity and value of freedom of expression. Though this place won't get political.

Yes, this place will be used to post photos for Semester At Sea. Summer is going to be awesome. You don't have to tell me for the millionth time.
